The reason why I chose to do this job shadow is because my father works for the company and I have always been curious as to how it was managed.
I first arrived at the Fullington Trailways when it was opening for the day. The manager of the station was also the ticket agent at that time since they were short handed; so the start of the day was very chaotic. There were customers in line to get tickets and asking questions. As the buses began to arrive more customers came in to ask questions and get information while drivers getting prepared to leave were calling to each other and joking around. The terminal manager was multitasking between sorting out the customers and asking the bus drivers information about their trips to log. The first hour or so continued to be very hectic as people came in and out. Once all the buses were boarded and had left the terminal it became much quieter. The terminal manager then was able to show me more of what he does in a typical day which consists of checking logs from the bus drivers, calling other terminals about packages and bus information, answering phones and providing information about where terminals are located, where tickets can be bought, how much tickets cost, what times buses leave, connecting buses, and the route buses take to reach their destination. He also takes care of the stations 'mascot' a small, chubby tabby cat named Rusty.
